So. I’ve been reading about King David, and recently found myself in the book of First Chronicles. It’s near the end of David’s reign and life, and he’s getting ready to give his son Solomon the kingdom so he can retire from leading the nation of Israel. In chapter 28, verses 9 and 10 David gives his son some sage advice.
And I thought, “Hmph. I can live by these too!” And then I thought, “Why not share it with all of my Blog peeps as well!” And so, here they are:
6 Biblical Principles to Live By…
1 – Get to Know God Personally
It’s not enough to have believing parents. It’s not enough to go to church. You MUST have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
2 – Learn God’s Commands & Find Out What He Wants You to Do
Yes, you NEED to read your Bible. Its teachings will give you insight into just what God’s rules for living are, and how He wants you to live.
3 – Worship God with Whole-Hearted Devotion
Worship involves ALL of you ALL of the time. It’s a lifestyle, not just a once-a-week act you do at church. Worship NEEDS to be daily and continuous, and involve your heart, mind, and soul.
4 – Serve God with a Willing Mind
It’s not enough to go through the actions of serving God because it’s something you should do. You HAVE to be willing. You HAVE to want it. To make it simple, it’s a choice.
5 – Be Faithful
Inconsistency is the devil’s playground and today’s world is sadly lacking in faithfulness. God EXPECTS Christians to be faithful to Him. Period. God comes FIRST, no matter what else is happening in our lives.
6 – Don’t Become Discouraged
We are all limited by our humanity. We are going to mess up. We are going to fail. Expect it, and then move on.
God doesn’t expect perfection. Take comfort in that and DON’T let discouragement set in!
