Happy 4th of July!
Today we celebrate our Independence and Freedom as Americans, and while barbecues are nice, the true meaning of today is that we are celebrating America’s 244th birthday!
With the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the original thirteen colonies on July 4, 1776, our nation was transformed from a British colony into its own sovereign nation, a land where all people were equal, where all had opportunities to flourish without fear of government control, and where each person could pursue their religious freedom in peace.
Unfortunately, today, there is a push to ‘sanitize’ our great history, but don’t give in to the urge to do so! We learn from the past so that we don’t repeat it in the future. Yes, there have been mistakes, but the great thing about America is its ability to adapt and evolve as time marches on.
America is still great and Americans are still equal. It’s time to show the world that we are united.
