I love writing. I do.
There’s just something beautiful about putting words on the page. Writing brings a certain satisfaction to stringing together words that form a sentence, which leads to a thought, which leads to a bunch of thoughts that will eventually tell a story.
It’s an even more amazing feeling to hold a book in my hands and be able to say, “I wrote this.” This story, this jumble of words and thoughts, came from me. I created this story simply from my thoughts.
Wow just doesn’t describe the feeling.
And then, I can’t help but think about God.
If I, just a human being, can find such joy in creating a story, then what must God feel when He looks at His creation?
The world and everything in it was created from a thought. God thought, then wrote the world into existence with his words. Every person, every animal, every rock and tree…from the ocean depths to the driest desert to the planets spinning around the sun…every single thing in existence began with words.
In fact, the very first chapter of the very first book in the Bible begins with the following five words…”In the beginning God created…”
When was the last time you took a break and just thought about what God created? When was the last time you took the time to look up from your iPhone, or tablet, or television and meditated on the majesty and beauty of God’s creation? Can you imagine how God felt when He finished creating the world, and He said, “…it is good”?
I want to issue a challenge of sorts.
Today, set aside some time free from politics, free from television and the radio. Shut off your computer and your iPhone and tuck away that tablet. Find a spot outside somewhere and just sit down with God and tell Him how thankful you are for His creation.
If you do this regularly I guarantee your perspective on life will change for the better. Just you…and God…and the joy in enjoying His creation together.
