God’s will isn’t as complicated as I make it. I know, it seems like it should be because, well, HELLO, it is God’s will I’m talking about. But honestly, God doesn’t do complicated.
I don’t have to jump through hoops to get it. I don’t have to spend hours at the church library to find it. I don’t need to consult every Biblical scholar, seek extended prayer or perform hours of religious penance to get it.
So, if you’re like me, you probably want to know…just how do you find God’s will for your life?
It’s as easy as this…
“Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
Huh. That’s it?
I know! Crazy simple, right??
You know, we humans make it much more difficult than it has to be. But the thing is, our joy, our prayers, and our thankfulness are not supposed to fluctuate with our circumstances or feelings. In fact, simply obeying these three commands can often rub against our natural inclinations. But here’s the thing. When we make a conscious, purposeful decision to do what God says, we will begin to see not only people from a new perspective but just what God wants for our lives.
Finding God’s will doesn’t have to be hard. It begins with these three steps…be joyful, pray continually, and thank God in ALL circumstances. The more you practice these, the easier it will be to follow God’s lead, and one day you’ll find yourself exactly where God wanted you all along.
