9 Questions Every Christian Should Ask Themselves Before Making a Tough Decision. @KathyWereb.com

Choices…we all make them. Every single day each of us make hundreds of decisions. Most of the time they’re simple, easy, just a matter of what to eat or what to wear. They don’t affect anyone but ourselves, and there is no right or wrong way to choose. It’s just a matter of what we want to do.

Occasionally, however, there are decisions that carry a bit more weight. These decisions not only affect us, they have possible side-effects for the people around us, and in some cases, for future generations.

We don’t want to do the wrong thing, and we definitely don’t want to make someone else do the wrong thing, so just what are we to do?

I’m glad you asked!

Here are 9 questions every Christian should ask themselves before making a tough decision:

  1. Does my choice help, or hurt, my witness for Christ? (1 Cor. 9:19-22)
  2. Is my motivation to help others to know Christ? (1 Cor. 9:23; 10:33)
  3. Will it help me do my best in living for Christ? (1 Cor. 9:25)
  4. Does my choice go against a specific command in Scripture, and will it cause me to sin? (1 Cor. 10:12)
  5. Is it the best course of action for not only my life, but others? (1 Cor. 10:23; 10:33)
  6. Does it help only myself, or do I care about the other person? (1 Cor. 10:24)
  7. Is my decision showing others love, or am I acting selfish? (1 Cor. 10:28-31)
  8. Does it glorify God? (1 Cor. 10:31)
  9. Will my decision cause someone else to sin? (1 Cor. 10:32)
