The Truth About Garbage

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2 – My mom had a saying, “Garbage in, garbage out”. Such truth in such a little phrase!

Dealing with depression, negativity, doubt, irritation, frustration, etc…? Our minds are like sponges, they soak up the things we watch, the things we read, the things we listen to…so if we’re not careful those ‘earthly things’ take over and push out the ‘things above’.

Want to change your attitude? Want to change how you speak? Want to walk in joy instead of despair?

Change what you’re thinking about! Turn off that TV show, change the radio station to something uplifting, put down that book that does not depict good and Godly things. A steady diet of garbage will produce more garbage. It’s that simple.

Garbage in, garbage out…the choice of just how much garbage we will eat is up to us. But I know for a fact that that is not God’s best plan for our lives.

I think the Bible says it best…

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 (nlt)
